Beach Rides

Beach Rides Dates Have Begun to Fill

Carousel Horse Farm Beach Rides will begin just after Columbus Day.  When the tide is right we can ride three hours before or after low tide and try for a sunset ride whenever possible.  Read more about Popham Beach Tides and Sunset times and dates at this link.  Weekday rides are available during October and November for $350.  Rides are private and can be up to four people in the group.

Special Rates for Beach Rides in 2016

The first date and time we’d like to fill at a special rate is Saturday October 15th at 4 pm for up to four people.  The first two people will be $175 and each additional person up to 4 riders total is $75 per person.

The next date we will try to fill is Wednesday October 26th at 1:30 pm.  Riders can get the same deal as above and FRP participants can also join in this beach ride.

The next ideal Saturday after that will be November 12th at 1:30 and 3 pm.  We hope to offer rides that day as well if anyone is interested please use our reservation form or call to make arrangements.

Popham versus Pine Point Beaches

Popham Beach is part of a state park and there is an old fort and restaurant riders can visit before or after their ride.  Islands abound in the water and lighthouses dot the horizon.  The beach generally has less activity such as surfers, wind surfers and beach goers.  No permits are required to ride on the beach.

Pine Point Beach is in Scarborough.  It is part of Old Orchard Beach and Saco Beach which create one 10 mile long beach over all three towns.   Pine Point is generally more crowded, there are no islands to see and it is mostly houses along the dune side of the beach.  Scarborough also requires that you purchase a permit for the riding season for $20 and you must provide your drivers license so you have to get these in person at the town hall or by mail.  You must wear this number pinned to your jacket throughout the ride.
