Last year we began sleigh rides on our trails with disappointing results considering the lack of snow. But we also added a trail grooming system to the farm so riding horse on the trails is now easier for you and the horses. The addition of the cafe gives you a spot to warm up for a few minutes and grab a hot coffee or cocoa to keep your hands warm while you wait. Most weekends there will be a fire to stand around outside as well.
Due to some bad conditions last winter we had to reduce our winter trail rides to 30 to 45 minutes. But this year we built a new trail up here on the hill. So this winter all of our rides will be the traditional 45 minutes to an hour long at the walk. We may be able to offer more 1.5 to 2 hour rides this winter as well due to a new side trail on a steep hill that we have to use. It will make using the trail to Jugtown Forest so much easier for the horses! We’ll keep you updated as winter evolves.
Remember we ride whether there is snow or not. Winter Wonderland doesn’t necessarily mean white on the ground. It just means come out and enjoy the colder temperatures, ride a horse and see snow capped Mt. Washington. Along with a few resident does and turkeys there’s always a chance you could see a moose, coyotes, fox, bald eagles and more!
If you purchase a pony pass during November and December you can participate in a Winter Wonderland Ride for half price! There are even gift certificates for the Road Apple Cafe to compliment your Winter Wonderland experience.
