Private Four Person Beginner Experience at Carousel Horse Farm

Our 45 minute to one hour Maine horse experience is perfect for families. This experience starts with a short tutorial on how to steer and stop, how to hold and use your reins properly and what to expect. This is in preparation before embarking on your preferred experince. One child under 10 and no more than two children under 12.
You can be on a horse for the very first time or if someone in your party has anxiety or just needs extra time to understand the instructions. We will offer a little time practicing skills and increasing confidence in a fenced area. It is a walk only pace with a gorgeous view of Mt. Washington on a clear day. Wildlife abounds and our little wooded area just behind the barn is a virtual nursery of fawns, fox, fisher cats, wild turkey and many other species.

The Private Trail Riding Experience is often over one hour If everyone is comfortable and enjoying it. This ride is for people 6 years and up, who’d like a catered experience based on their comfort level and abilities. Photos and instruction are offered by your instructor.
Sunset Horseback Ride at Carousel Horse Farm

$350/couples only
The sunset ride covers the same trail as the beginner ride except we plan the trip to get to the top of the hill with the best view as close to sunset as possible. All level riders including first time riders will enjoy this ride. The time changes based on the week until May and then its close then its close to 7 pm each night. The instructor does an assessment in the ring before departure and we take photos for you along the ride.
Two Hour Horse Riding Experience
2026 Prices $450/couple $150 each additional person
Two hour ride includes a tutorial for beginners and some time assessing ability in the riding area. Then the instructor leads the riders down a technical trail into Jugtown Forest where there are beautiful sandy trails. A great opportunity to see wildlife, the river with small waterfalls and opportunities to trot. This ride is appropriate for 12 yrs and up. All riders must weigh under 220 lbs. Younger children are considered if they have current riding experience and show a proficiency during the initial lesson and the first 20 minutes of the experience.
